The world faces challenges that will impact on business and citizens. International Governments are working towards carbon reduction and long term, sustainable goals. The UK Government is taking measures such as the Renewables Obligation, Climate Change Levy and the Carbon reduction Commitment to ensure delivery of reductions in our greenhouse gas emissions. The UK has led the way internationally on climate change and has pushed to centre global emissions as a crucial issue on the international agenda.

"Energy & Environment 2010 – Our response to a Global Challenge" is taking place on the 30th March at the Business Design Centre in London and will bring together Ministers, departmental heads from local and central Government as well as influential private sector representatives to deliberate the best strategy to achieve key targets.

Copenhagen: An Odd Way To Do Business
There were more than 15,000 delegates and ngo reps at COP15. Why did the 4, 000 journalists also assembled there ever think there could be a consensus?

Copenhagen: When It Began To Unravel
People arrived in Copenhagen assuming there would be some kind of deal by the end. Instead, the gulf between developed and developing countries actually got wider.

Copenhagen: Is That It?
A climate change accord was agreed at Copenhagen but it has no legal status and may not even be signed by its sponsor's legislature - the US Senate. But was COP15 ever likely to arrive at a consensus between 193 countries?

This, our third annual Energy & Environment Conference, follows on from the overriding success of our previous events that provided a unique insight into how Climate Change can help to drive economic growth in the 21st Century whilst placing the UK at the forefront of this crucial agenda.

Climate Change, Global Warming or The Green House Effect, whichever term we choose to define the impact of our actions, the fact remains that if we don’t reduce our carbon footprint in every aspect of our lives, it could lead to catastrophic consequences for our planet. Our environment faces unprecedented challenges and the conduct of Government, businesses and individuals will define our planets and our future low carbon prosperity.

The Government has laid out clear goals that it aims to achieve by 2020. These include:

  • All new homes to be zero carbon from 2016
  • 1.2 million jobs for green collar to promote innovation and technology to drive investment and success to UK economy
  • Low carbon energy supply to be delivered through £100 billion blueprint for renewable energy
  • Energy saving products and technology to be installed in millions of homes including insulation and low energy bulbs
  • Phase out old high energy bulbs by 2011
  • Cut green house gas emissions by 9.3 millions tonnes of CO2 per year by 2020 via the waste strategy for England

‘Energy & Environment 2010 – Our response to a Global Challenge' will examine how the UK proposes to lead the way in tackling climate change featuring experts from both the Public and Private sector. This unique event will showcase the most innovative products and services whilst debating the potential impact they can have on both the domestic and international energy and environment market.
